| Reiki (pronounced ray-key) Reiki is an ancient spiritual healing modality. This anceint spiritual healing technique is a mode for channeling healing energy to self or others for the purpose of healing. The Reiki story begins in the 1800's with Mikao Usui, although it has been said that Jesus used this healing method. As the story goes, Master Usui fasted and meditated for 21 days on Mount Koriyama in Japan. Looking for answers in regards to the Reiki energy, he placed 21 rocks in front of him to determine time, throwing away one stone at the end of each day. Nothing happened to Master Usui, until the 21rst day, where he saw a bolt of light coming towards him. Instead of going into a state of panic, he decided to trust the light that was heading directly toward him. Could this be the answer to his meditation? He was struck at the third eye by this bolt of light, making him unconscious. While in this state of unconsciousness, he saw and experienced each of the Reiki symbols. He was given the information on each of the symbols, and was shown how to activate them. He left the mountain now knowing how to heal as Jesus did. Master Usui named this ancient healing method Reiki, which means Universal Life Force Energy. This life exists in all things, therefore Reiki is a part of each and everyone of us; it is part of our genetic coding, our birthright. Reiki has changed and evolved since Mikao's time. Back then the cost to become a Reiki Master Teacher was $10,000.00 and as a result there were not many people that had the opportunity to become attuned to the Reiki energy. At this time, Reiki is reaching many more people. It is my desire that Reiki be honored and cherished and that we conserve the method by teaching our children so that it does not become a lost healing technique. When becoming attuned to the Reiki energy, the bodies' energy channels, or chakras are opened and cleared from any discordant energies and blockages. The newly attuned also receives an increase in Life Force Energy known as "Ki". The attunement not only heals the newly attuned but it creates a healer. At this point on, the Reiki student is now a Reiki Practitioner. When attuned to the Reiki energy, you become a channel for this energy; for it flows though you, it does not come from you. The channeling of Reiki promotes well being in all your bodies; the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. Because Reiki is a guided God Force Energy, it can do no harm. If a Reiki Practitioner meditates daily and uses the gift of this Universal Life Force Energy, they should find that their mental, emotional, spiritual and physical bodies become balanced. Every being that is alive, be it an animal, plant or human has life force energy flowing through and around them. This energy feeds us, keeps us alive, when this energy becomes diminished or depleted we start to experience dis-ease. By using Reiki you can then recharge your Universal Life Force Energy like recharging a battery and dispel of the dis-ease. The Reiki energy heals us by flowing to the affected areas of our energy field thus recharging those areas with positive all loving energy. Reiki causes the negative energy to dissipate and then transmutes that negative energy to positive once again. As always the healee must want to be healed in order for any healing modality to work, this includes the modality of Reiki. |
